01 / THE IDEA

Not a uniform look—
the right form for each message

Every brief, audience, and message is different. KUMIHAN|Concinnitas helps AI shape typography, spacing, and hierarchy around the meaning and priorities of each piece—rather than applying one template to everything. In Latin, that starts by asking whether a text is to be read continuously, studied with notes, read aloud, or seen as a title or motto.

02 / WHAT MATTERS

Four things worth getting right

Practical priorities for creating and reviewing Latin content.

01 / TYPE

Latin typography

The Latin language (la) is not the Latin script (Latn): not every text in Latin letters is Latin, so language and script are recorded separately. Macrons, breves and accents (ā, ĭ, á) stay attached to their letters and are never split; no spaces are inserted between letters for tracking, and typefaces are checked file by file for ā, ȳ, æ, œ and ǣ.

02 / STRUCTURE

Purposeful structure

Shape the layout around the information, its priority, and the reader’s goal. Continuous reading, study with notes, recitation and short titles or mottos are designed as different ways of reading. Notes, translations and audio are linked to the text by position and reference—not just set smaller—and lines of verse are kept apart from screen wrapping.

03 / FIDELITY

Source fidelity

Protect names, quotations, numbers, dates, codes and intended meaning. I/J and U/V, ae/æ and oe/œ, macrons and accents, abbreviations, word order and enclitics such as -que stay as the edition has them; nothing is changed from a period label alone (“medieval, so e”), and the source is never silently Unicode-normalized (ſ, fi). Expanding abbreviations, restoring text and translating are edits: recorded as proposals, never made silently.

04 / REVIEW

Read-only review

Check finished work and organize issues—without touching the files. Size is judged by x-height and measured width, not point size—in the research, the same sentence set at 12 pt in two typefaces differed in width by about 15%—and narrow screens, zoom, hyphenation and PDF text extraction are checked separately.

DESIGNED FOR THE MESSAGE

Beyond arranging type
Design the reading experience

KUMIHAN|Concinnitas doesn't dictate a finished look. It gives AI the knowledge to adapt to each medium and brief. Latin has no single look and is not limited to Roman inscriptions or the Church: it is read today in news, magazines and learning apps. Typefaces are compared by file, version, character coverage and licence—EB Garamond revives a 1592 type specimen, while Trajan is a modern display face drawn from Roman inscriptions.
