01 / THE IDEA

Not a uniform look—
the right form for each message

Every brief, audience, and message is different. KUMIHAN|विन्यास helps AI shape typography, spacing, and hierarchy around the meaning and priorities of each piece—rather than applying one template to everything. In Sanskrit, that starts by asking whether a text is to be read continuously, chanted aloud, or seen as a heading or logo.

02 / WHAT MATTERS

Four things worth getting right

Practical priorities for creating and reviewing Sanskrit content.

01 / TYPE

Sanskrit typography

Sanskrit has never been written only in Devanagari, and Devanagari on screen does not make a text Hindi, so language (sa) and script (Deva, Latn/IAST) are recorded separately. Conjuncts and pre-base vowel signs, as in कि, stay in logical order while the shaper handles the visual order; no spaces or tracking go inside clusters, and long compounds are not broken by force.

02 / STRUCTURE

Purposeful structure

Shape the layout around the information, its priority, and the reader’s goal. Continuous reading, chanting and display—headings, logos—are designed as different ways of reading, and source, transliteration and translation are aligned by meaning rather than forced into the same number of lines.

03 / FIDELITY

Source fidelity

Protect names, quotations, numbers, dates, codes and intended meaning. Conjuncts, vowel signs, IAST diacritics (ā ṛ ṣ ṃ ḥ), Vedic accent marks, danda (। ॥) and avagraha (ऽ) stay as written, and the source is kept apart from the edited text. Undoing sandhi, splitting compounds and reordering words are edits: recorded as proposals, never made silently.

04 / REVIEW

Read-only review

Check finished work and organize issues—without touching the files. Size is judged by measured width, not point size—in the research, one word set at the same size in four typefaces differed by about 21% in width—and rendering, copying and PDF text extraction are checked separately.

DESIGNED FOR THE MESSAGE

Beyond arranging type
Design the reading experience

KUMIHAN|विन्यास doesn't dictate a finished look. It gives AI the knowledge to adapt to each medium and brief. Sanskrit has no single colour scheme and is not limited to religious use. Typefaces are compared by file version, character coverage, shaping and licence—Tiro Devanagari Sanskrit and Murty Sanskrit, though related, come under different terms.
